A Biocompatible Dual‐Sided Hernia Mesh with Side‐Specific Properties

چکیده
Polypropylene (PP) based hernia mesh often shows multiple post-surgery complications due to lack of biocompatibility, poor cell attachment, and unwanted tissue adhesion. These limitations can be addressed by material designing surface modification a with side-specific properties such as the visceral side (facing intestine) low protein attachment parietal incision) improved for normal healing. However, development dual-sided is very challenging because its porous structure. Herein, biocompatible anti-adsorption on two different sides developed grafting highly hydrophilic 2-methcryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine polymer (PMPC) plasma-activated side, while coated bioactive chitosan functionalized nanodiamond (Chi/FND) using temporary polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) mold. The PMPC-grafted demonstrated excellent resistance adsorption (96% reduction compared PP) attachment. coating has significantly proliferation properties. In addition, both confirmed presence respective biomaterials after an accelerated degradation study 28 days. Hence, newly semi-solid mold (SSPM) method promising candidate address long-existing issues mesh.

Re: Biocompatible properties of surgical mesh using an animal model.
AIM To study the biocompatibility of surgical meshes for use in pelvic reconstructive surgery using an animal model. METHODS Eight different types of mesh: Atrium, Dexon, Gynemesh, IVS tape, Prolene, SPARC tape, TVT tape and Vypro II, were implanted into the abdominal walls of rats for 3 months' duration. Explanted meshes were assessed, using light microscopy, for parameters of rejection and ...
متن کاملParastomal Hernia Repair with Intraperitoneal Mesh
Purpose Parastomal hernia is a common complication following a stoma and may cause leakage or incarceration. No optimal treatment has been established, and existing methods using mesh repair are associated with high recurrence rates and a considerable risk for short- and long-term complications including death. A double-layer intraperitoneal on-lay mesh (IPOM), the Parastomal Hernia Patch (BARD...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Extraperitoneal Inguinal Hernia Repair Using a Novel Mesh with Self-Fixating Properties
Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) hernia repair is a well-accepted technique for inguinal hernia repair. Different types of mesh and fixation methods have been described. Recently, a novel, self-fixating mesh has been introduced and used successfully in open inguinal hernia repairs. We report the first initial experience using this mesh for TEP repairs.
متن کاملComparing non-mesh and sutured inguinal hernia repairs in groin surgery: A randomized clinical trial
Purpose: Mesh technique is the standard for inguinal hernia repair because of less recurrence, but it is inferior or equal to sutured technique in case of other post-operative complications such as chronic pain. This clinical trial set out to compare these two techniques. Materials and Methods: A total number of 322 cases of unilateral inguinal hernia in participants older than 18 yea...
متن کاملParaesophageal hernia repair with bifacial mesh
Background. The paraesophageal hiatus hernias (PHH) are relatively uncommon, but an increased incidence has been reported and they now account for 5-10% of all hiatus hernias. The surgical treatment is recommended for all the patients with this pathology because of high risk of complications: obstruction, incarceration, strangulation or perforation. The use of prostheses is recommended in the pr...
